Tasha and Gordie

(Tasha on left and Gordie on right)

It hurts to say good-bye to a loved one. It is never easy. When Tasha passed away on 8/22/07 I know I went into a depression and that severely impacted my health. I am slowly regaining strength and starting to live again. She was my heart dog....one who was the inspiration behind my dreams. Because of her I am what I am today. And now, five months later, we had to say good-bye to a sweet soul, Gordie, this early AM. He was such an endearing soul...never met anyone who he did not like. The hurt of loosing another one starts all over again. I told Gordie before he left..."go find Tasha"...I am sure he did and that the two are romping at Rainbow Bridge. I know I feel Tasha's spirit all around me. No matter how long or short these souls are with us in life we must learn from them. They came into our life for a reason. We must take what we have learned from them and apply it to our life. We must push on and not let our saddness, depression or sense of loss keep us from doing the things that are before us. Life has too much to offer and it is up to us to open our hearts, eyes, and ears to what lies in front of us. Yes, we will miss those who have gone on to another place..but I know that regardless whether they are with us in spirit or not, they would want for us to continue to live, learn and be happy. Thankfully the memories of them will always be with us forever. Thank you Tasha and Gordie...Good-Bye does not mean forever, it means till we see eachother again.

On a happier note...the shelter puppy has now been named Brazen! She is pictured below!

A new puppy

A Shelter Puppy joins Reinwood Corgis!

It is not everyday when someone asks you to join them somewhere that would eventually change something in your life. This invitation was TOTALLY TOTALLY TOTALLY unexpected. One of my agility clients asked me to join her at the New Rochelle Animal Shelter in NY on Wednesday after agility classes were done. Normally after the classes I head to a clients house with the Portuguese Water Dogs in NY where I work on their obedience training. WELL............I followed my client to the NRAS as they had since moved from their old location and I had NO IDEA where they were. A friend and former student of mine named Dana met us there as she is the head person and runs the shelter. Well, my student started looking at these dogs and then Dana escorted us to a SPECIAL WARD. There in two different pens were two litters of Rat Terrier mix puppies. The mother of both litters were soooooo sweet and GORGEOUS! Well...the rest is history....one puppy in the first stall took my heart and she will be coming home with me in two weeks! SOOO now I am no longer owned by just Pems and one BC but also by ONE shelter dog!

Since this puppy is only 6 weeks old she will be staying there till she is about 8-9 weeks. In the meantime I will be visiting her quite often and certainly will be taking pictures of her as she progresses. No name has been given to her just yet. The mom had been found running loose in NY with ANOTHER female who was also pregnant. BOTH the Mom and other female had given birth to the puppies at the shelter. Who knows what they are....speculation is part Heeler and part Rat terrier. One friend observed the pictures of the pup and said.....maybe Beagle too? Nope....nothing like a Beagle at all!

Plans are for this girl to learn agility and obedience. I am sure the pack will have some questions about this new arrival. But I am sure all will turn out just fine.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

HAPPY NEW YEAR! Cannot believe it....another year has come and gone. Many heartaches, frustrations, and a few wonderful moments went with 2007. I can only imagine the resolutions for 2008... but what I wish for is peace, happiness and success. If only people all over the world would stop fighting that would be the best resolution of all! I celebrated the ring to the New Year with a few very good friends who managed to stay up till midnight to watch the NYC ball go down. We all drank sparkling apple cider and cheered when midnight struck. Of course, the fire in the fireplace gave a loud crackle and the dogs were more or less running around to see what the commotion was. One of my friends decided she was just too tired to go home and happily stayed the night! What fun! Of course New Years morning, with all that rain coming down we decided to head over to HoJo's for breakfast then trotted over to Bassetts Furniture store to play with all the wonderful sofas. One of the recliner chairs gave my friend quite a start when it flew back and ejected the leg support....she was so shocked and there I was laughing my head off seeing this white haired lady fly backwards! The sales clerk was in a good mood and laughed with us too. It was so nice to spend the New Year with this person...she was my neighbor from my old neighborhood of 15 years! Not to be outdone...all my critters wish you a HAPPY NEW YEAR...may you have peace, happiness and success. In picture above is Feisty (Far top), Grant (left) and Hannah Banana (right) wishing you the very best!
